Melrose Jewelers: Sir Edmund Hillary, the Great Mountaineer, Wore a Rolex Oyster on D-day

May 29, 1953 was the day when Sir Edmund Hillary created history by scaling Mt. Everest with his favorite Rolex on his wrist. Sir Hillary was very fond of his Rolex Oyster and hence wore it at the time when he climbed the highest peak. The Rolex Oyster indicates the stupendous success that Edmund Hillary enjoyed in mountaineering and the respect he gained from fellow mountaineers and expedition enthusiasts.
